My family was surprised by my decision to join the Air Force. But they were supportive of my need to look beyond a desk job for something different, something more dynamic.
As most of our initial flying training was conducted overseas, it was a challenge for me to be away from my friends and family for prolonged periods of time. However, the camaraderie that I had with my course mates provided me with a home away from home – a family bonded by a goal to overcome the impossible together.
My most memorable moment in the RSAF yet? My very first flight on the CT4B, a light aircraft. That first take-off on a non-commercial aircraft was truly a unique and inspiring experience.
