1971
The Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA), established on 1 Nov 1971, formed the Integrated Air Defence System to safeguard Singapore and Malaysia.
The FPDA was set up to enable Singapore and Malaysia to retain security cooperation with Australia, New Zealand, and the UK through the Integrated Air Defence System. The Integrated Air Defence System was established within the framework of FPDA, with its headquarters at Butterworth, Penang, to provide for the air defence of both countries.
Established on 1 November 1971, the FPDA framework covered the formation of the Integrated Air Defence System to be responsible for the air defence of Singapore and Malaysia.
