The SAF Engineering Scholarship is for aspiring engineers with brilliant minds and a heart for the nation. You’ll gain the knowledge, training, and support to lead cutting-edge research and shape next-generation defence with your squad by your side.

After graduation, you’ll take on key roles as a military engineer in MINDEF/SAF, with opportunities to grow your impact through the wider Defence Technology Community, including Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) and Defence Science Organisation (DSO). This is where you build the future and find your Above All.

Application period

Male applicants:

  • September – April annually

Female applicants:

  • April – August annually

What it covers

  • Full sponsorship e.g. tuition fees and other approved academic charges to pursue engineering studies at renowned overseas or local universities

  • Departure for studies in the year of award

  • Monthly salary and maintenance allowance (e.g. books, clothing, computer etc.) for the duration of studies

Eligibility criteria

  • Singapore citizens or permanent residents intending to take up citizenship

  • Good GCE 'A' Level results or International Baccalaureate results, Polytechnic Diploma (with Merit) or equivalent

  • Good co-curricular activities (CCA) records

  • Possess strong interest in pursuing a military engineering career in the SAF

Accepted courses of study

You may choose to pursue any of the following disciplines:

  • Aerospace Engineering

  • Electrical Engineering

  • Mechanical Engineering

Is there a bond?

The bond will be for 6 years, and will commence immediately upon graduation and return to service.
